Frank Peretti’s, Visitation
I love Frank Peretti’s books. In my mind, he brings graphic details of good and evil to vibrant life. Visitation though surprised me. It was like the beginning of a steep roller coaster climb. I found it somewhat slow and ponderous and considered not completing it, but since Peretti has captivated me in the past, I pushed on. Don’t give up, you won’t regret it.
In the beginning, we drop in on the primary character’s life at a sad and weary place. I soldiered on and got enchanted by the emerging secondary characters. I also fell in love with the small-town feel and warmth of being a part of what is essentially the principal character’s extended family. When all the pieces came together I was, once again, captivated. My waning respect for the protagonist rose exponentially, and by the end of the book I was weeping and laughing and thoroughly enjoying myself.
This is one book I will be re-reading!
